New Impressions: "The Sea Creatures" by Ryleigh Leon

Artist Biography

Ryleigh is a graphic designer from Lawrence, Kansas. She is expected to graduate from the Milwaukee Institute of Art & Design in 2025. 

Description of Process

The Sea Creatures is a series of six prints created using the Prixel Press. It has a baseplate that magnetically snaps to the press. The pieces that go into the baseplate are moveable type made of silicone. I started with research about modular design and creating sketches with an Illustrator symbol set of the Prixel components to size. This series explores making the prints cohesive and expanding the letterpress community. Each print is 2 colors and has detailing on the animal.
